After starting his career in banking and insurance, Adekunle Ogunmefun founded his own advertising agency, Bluebird Communications. That was more than 20 years ago. Since then, that firm has spawned two more companies in the marketing communications industry. As Group CEO of these companies, Ogunmefun wanted to learn more about various management styles adopted by business leaders around the world. That’s why he enrolled in the Owner/President Management (OPM) program at Harvard Business School. He shares his thoughts about his experience.
I wanted to educate myself about new management styles that would enable me to move my business forward. Also, I wanted to learn from and share experiences with top business executives from around the globe.
Definitely, OPM fulfilled my expectations. I was in search of inclusive learning—I wanted to learn from the lecturers but also gain practical insights by hearing the experiences of other top executives from around the world. OPM allowed me to learn in the class and through interaction with every participant. The group structure was very interactive, and group rotation provided access to diverse opinions. This made the learning process more interesting, more interactive, and more global. You can't beat it.
OPM has prepared me well to meet future challenges. I can confidently say that the program has given me deep insights into how to be a stronger leader, manager, business strategist, and negotiator. For me, it was the total package—and a life-changing experience.
If you have ever desired a life-changing business learning experience, consider attending OPM at HBS. Every second you spend there is well worth your time.
