Summary
Market volatility, digital transformation, and innovation, are changing the way companies
compete in every industry—and increasing the demand for business leaders who are global
changemakers. Whether you are looking to move up to the executive suite or are about
to take on greater leadership responsibilities, the Advanced Management Program is
designed to bring about a full-scale change that empowers executives to create and
renew competitive advantage for their organizations.
One flagship program. Two unique formats.
Virtual continuous format (Spring 2021) – The program will take place virtually over the course of 12 weeks with three blocks
of varying time commitment.
Block 1 (05-30 APR 2021): Intensive class schedule of 2 to 3 classes per day, Monday through Saturday. Participants
can expect to commit to 6 hours per day for class sessions and other sessions in the
form of faculty office hours and coaching. Case study preparation, virtual learning
groups, and networking events will be in addition to the time commitment referenced
above.
Block 2 (01-30 MAY 2021): Less intensive schedule with a combination of personal case and self-paced, asynchronous
work. In addition, there will be 2 to 4 live online classes, group work, and coaching
sessions per week. Participants can expect to commit 10-12 hours per week.
Block 3 (31 MAY-25 JUN 2021): Intensive class schedule of 2 to 3 classes per day, Monday through Saturday. Participants
can expect to commit to 6 hours per day for class sessions and other sessions in the
form of faculty office hours and coaching. Case study preparation, virtual learning
groups, and networking events will be in addition to the time commitment referenced
above. A virtual graduation will be held on the last day of the program. All participants
will become members of the HBS alumni community on June 25th.
Capstone Event (Optional): After completing AMP and earning alumni status at the virtual graduation, you can
expect to receive an invitation to campus when it is safe to congregate together.
We will host a 5-day event with class sessions, coaching, networking events and celebrations.
We plan to offer each live class session twice a day to accommodate different time
zones. Participants will be contacted by the program team to select which time slot
best fits their schedules.
Please note: Pre-program work will begin about 1 month prior to the start of the program.
Pre-work will include self-paced, asynchronous online coursework; introductions to
your virtual learning groups, faculty, and your HBS executive coach; and community
networking events. Participants should set aside 12-15 hours per week to complete
pre-work before the start of Block 1.
Blended modular format (Fall 2021) – Four highly integrated modules are presented over 6 months, with 6 weeks of study
on campus—two on-campus modules and two virtual, self-paced modules. Participants
should set aside 8-10 hours per week to complete work during each virtual, self-paced
module.

Both program formats provide the time and support you need to build trusting relationships
with a group of peers outside your organization who not only can understand your challenges,
but also can provide objective feedback. Each day, you will gain new insights by:
Collaborating with executives who span industries, countries, and cultures
Considering diverse perspectives during case discussions and assignments
Contributing to small group exercises and projects as part of a team
Giving and receiving confidential feedback in a safe environment
During the upcoming virtual delivery of AMP, running 05 APR-25 JUN 2021, living groups
will be replaced with virtual learning groups.
Our distinctive coaching method is highly integrated into the program to accelerate
both individual and team growth. You and your peers will meet with your professional
HBS executive coach to accelerate the living group process. Your coach will also help
you assess your personal leadership strengths and gaps through one-on-one sessions—one
focused on your 360-degree leadership and personality assessment at the start of the
program and another focused on your reentry strategy following the program. All coaching
sessions are strictly confidential, giving you the freedom to share your personal
goals and professional challenges.
Throughout the program you will work on developing a personal case. Your personal
case will involve building a comprehensive strategy and implementation plan that will
address a personal leadership challenge or strategic opportunity facing your organization.
As you develop your personal case, the faculty, your living group, and your HBS Executive
Coach will deliver feedback that will help you fine-tune your action plan.

will be replaced with virtual learning groups.
Members of the Advanced Management Program faculty are often available to meet with
you one-on-one and provide new perspectives on your business challenges.
You will have exclusive access to unparalleled resources that you can use to extend
your learning, investigate topics of personal and professional importance, and identify
new learning objectives.
Research Assistance – Take advantage of exclusive access to research specialists from the Baker Library/Bloomberg Center, the world's largest business archives. These experts will help you navigate the
vast library collections and use your time effectively.
Harvard ManageMentor® – This self-directed learning resource includes 44 modules that address critical
management issues and empower you to build, broaden, and refresh your leadership skills.
360-degree assessment
You will assess your personal leadership strengths and weaknesses through a 360-degree
leadership and personality assessment.
HBS executive coaching
Our distinctive coaching method is highly integrated into the program to accelerate
both individual and team growth. You and your peers will meet with your professional
HBS executive coach to accelerate the living group process. Your coach will also help
you assess your personal leadership strengths and gaps through one-on-one sessions—one
focused on your 360-degree leadership and personality assessment at the start of the
program and another focused on your reentry strategy following the program. All coaching
sessions are strictly confidential, giving you the freedom to share your personal
goals and professional challenges.
Personal Case
Throughout the program you will work on developing a personal case. Your personal
case will involve building a comprehensive strategy and implementation plan that will
address a personal leadership challenge or strategic opportunity facing your organization.
As you develop your personal case, the faculty, your living group, and your HBS Executive
Coach will deliver feedback that will help you fine-tune your action plan.
