
Sunand Menon
Bio
Sunand Menon is a digital strategy thought leader with 25+ years of expertise in transforming traditional businesses and creating and leading new digital, analytics and AI-enabled businesses. He is widely published within the business press on digital strategy, operations, and leadership, including the Harvard Business Review and Fast Company.
For more than a decade, Sunand has created and given courses on digital strategy and execution, innovation, and new venture development to senior executives and high potential employees in Fortune 500 companies as well as in start-up organizations. As part of the Harvard Business School's Leadership Initiative, he focuses on designing and running interactive learning programs to better prepare leaders for the complexity and speed of the digital era and to instill the right mindsets and behaviors to thrive in the current business world.
Sunand is an Operating Partner at Flagship Pioneering, where he builds and scales AI businesses and platforms that change the world and achieve transformational outcomes through rigorous science. He is the founder of digital transformation advisory New Media Insight, helping and training the C-Suite to create new data and analytics-enabled businesses, and develop digitally mature and innovation-based organizations.
Prior to New Media Insight, Sunand held General Manager, Chief Strategy Officer, and Chief Product Officer roles at several organizations, where he launched and scaled new digital ventures and SaaS products in various domains. As Chief Product Officer of RANE, he built a suite of digitally delivered risk intelligence platforms that help monitor and address cyber, geopolitical, and other security threats to ensure the business continuity, resilience, and safety of organizations around the world. As Corporate Vice President and Head of Strategy for PTC, he spearheaded its digital transformation to a Software-as-a-Service business. Sunand was also Global Head of New Ventures at Thomson Reuters, where he incubated and scaled several digital businesses such as Thomson Reuters Indices, Classifications, and Expert Polling.
Sunand has lived and worked in three continents, and began his career as an engineer specializing in data modeling and process simulation at Procter and Gamble in Brussels, Belgium. Sunand holds an M.Sc and B.Sc in Chemical Engineering from Delft University in the Netherlands, and an M.B.A. from the Harvard Business School.
