A New Normal on Campus

This fall, HBS officially welcomed MBA students and Executive Education program participants back to campus after an 18-month pandemic hiatus. To ensure that faculty, students and staff feel confident about their long-awaited return to campus, HBS has introduced a number of safety precautions.

At the heart of these efforts is a policy requiring masks indoors. We also have provided guidelines for social distancing, created procedures for holding on-campus meetings or events, and implemented regulations for work-related travel.

But our work didn't stop there. The Harvard University Health Service has implemented comprehensive procedures for case investigation and contact tracing. We have also stepped up cleaning protocols and upgraded ventilation systems to improve airflow. In addition, we've tapped into the expertise of our IT staff for help with the creation of websites where members of the community could perform COVID-19 self-assessments, provide information about their vaccination status, and manage periodic required COVID-19 testing.

Just as important, we have worked to make sure that everyone on campus is on the same page when it comes to safety. All members of the HBS community completed a Community Commitment process and related training, to ensure that they had the information needed to keep themselves, colleagues, and students healthy.
