We all know that a healthy approach to work means prioritizing wellness. When you come to the Harvard Business School (HBS) campus for an Executive Education program, we make sure you have the comfortable accommodations you need for a good night's rest, many options for nutritious meals and snacks, and social activities that help you recharge and make new friends. At the same time, we make it easy for you to maintain your regular exercise regimen or even embark on a new commitment to fitness. Whatever your goals, the HBS campus has the facilities you need.
Walking and Running
The HBS campus is located right on the banks of the Charles River, which provides great trails for walking or running while taking in the local scenery. For round-trip distances along the shoreline, download the Charles River Running Map. You can also hop across the bridge and take a walk through the Harvard Square area, with its unique shopping and restaurants, as well as the historic Harvard Yard.
Discover Shad Hall
HBS offers excellent athletic facilities. The award-winning Shad Hall Fitness Center is the HBS hub for fitness. This three-story structure houses:
A multi-purpose gym
An indoor track
A cardio and weight room
Squash and racquetball courts
Locker rooms
Exercise studios
Sauna and steam rooms
If you will be on campus for a longer program, you can also take advantage of scheduled classes, as well as fitness evaluations and personal trainers who can help you develop an exercise program tailored to you. You might even run into me as I also teach yoga classes for participants in our Comprehensive Leadership Programs.

Using HBS Athletic Facilities: The Practical Details
You will initially need to register at Shad Hall by signing the Statement of Informed Consent. Your Executive Education name badge is subsequently used to access the facility and to exchange for a towel and day locker key at the equipment desk. Because Shad Hall hours of operation change seasonally, make sure to call the automated information line at +1.617.496.SHAD for current hours before visiting.
You can also take advantage of Blodgett Pool, located just across North Harvard Street from the HBS campus. You will first need to obtain a pool pass (which includes towel service) from the Chao Center Front Desk. Visit the Blodgett Pool website or call 1.617.495.1789 for hours of operation. This large pool facility consists of:
9 50m pool lanes and 14 25m pool lanes
Two-1m springboards and two-3m springboards
One-7.5m diving platform
Locker rooms
In addition to the indoor athletic facilities in Shad Hall and the Blodgett Pool, you can also take advantage of outdoor tennis courts, which must be reserved through Shad Hall.
