Kevin Gohil is the former Chief Operating Officer and group Chief Transformation Officer at Copyright Licensing Agency UK and Publishers Licensing Services. While transitioning from his digital transformation role, he attended the live online program, Competing in the Age of AI—Virtual, at Harvard Business School Executive Education.
How would you rate the format of Competing in the Age of AI—Virtual?
It's the best format that I've ever experienced, and I've had a lot of executive education experience over the years.
Over eight weeks, I was able to go at my own pace, which was really refreshing. We all learn in different stages and come from different backgrounds with different experiences. So this unique format gave me the time to understand how all this fits in with my world.
Was it easy to connect with the faculty and other participants?
The videos that Professors Marco Iansiti and Karim Lakhani created made it feel as if they were right there with us, and the business leaders who participated from around the globe brought such diverse perspectives and experiences. It was a powerful connection on so many levels.
In fact, I still meet regularly with other participants from the program. Every month, we talk about the AI issues we're facing and how we're applying tools we learned. Because we share the same knowledge and vocabulary, we've created an expertise for ourselves that continues to grow.
Will business leaders who don't have a background in technology benefit from this program?
The program benefits leaders regardless of whether they have data science or AI experience. They'll learn practical ways to successfully implement transformation models within the context of their specific organizations and industries.
I learned how to apply a new skill set with ease and confidence. Two weeks ago, for example, I was speaking at a European conference about AI strategies and how to humanize AI. I was able to present before an audience and answer questions with ease due to this transformative program.
How can people make the most of this virtual learning experience?
This is an amazing program—it allows you to see where you really are, where the shortfalls are, and what you need to do to address them. Some people in my discussion group were board members who wanted to understand the AI space, so they could ask the right questions when technology leaders came to speak with them.
If you're struggling through a transformation and worried that you don't understand the process, this program will empower you to build the foundational knowledge and vocabulary required to succeed.
