Performance Measurement for Effective Management of Nonprofit Organizations

The information below is based on the program offered in 2008, and does not reflect potential changes to faculty and course content for the 2009 course.

To improve the effectiveness of a nonprofit organization, an executive must first determine its current performance. PMNO helps with this challenging task by demonstrating measurement and its impact on resource allocation, organizational learning, internal processes, and internal and external accountability.

What You Can Expect
The program, offered in conjunction with the John F. Kennedy School of Government, shows nonprofit leaders how to use performance measurement to enhance their organization's ability to deliver on its mission. To effectively address typical challenges, topics emphasize that different types of performance issues require different approaches.

Your Course of Study
In classroom exercises, group discussions, and individual work, participants examine the rationale behind nonprofit performance management and conceptualize a new performance measurement and management system for their organization.

Who Is Right for the Program
Designed for CEOs, presidents, executive directors and other senior executives in the nonprofit sector who are committed to implementing effective performance measurement and management systems, the program is suited to individuals, as well as teams from the same organization.
