Managing Healthcare Delivery

The information below is based on the program offered in 2009, and does not reflect potential changes to faculty and course content for the 2010 course.

New Program

While delivering patient care has always been a primary goal of healthcare organizations, financial outcomes have long been the metric by which success has been measured. Increasingly however, healthcare leaders are being held accountable for both medical and financial outcomes. As a result, it is crucial that healthcare executives and providers gain an understanding of the determinants of organizational effectiveness—strategy, finance, operations, and leadership.

This leadership development program provides an experience that is truly transformational. Immersed in dynamic learning that goes far beyond the traditional debate over healthcare costs, you will examine the critical processes required to develop and deliver a superior healthcare system in your organization.

What You Can Expect
This intensive three-week program, delivered over a nine-month period, incorporates real-world case studies, classroom exercises, and action learning. Over nine months, you will build new skills in strategy, finance, operations, and leadership, while acquiring new perspectives and models for innovation.

Your Course of Study
The program equips participants with knowledge, tools and scenarios which they can bring back to their organizations, organized around four main concepts: Design – Developing Effective Operational Models, Teams, and Delivery Strategies; Perform – Improving Day-to-Day Operations and Processes; Innovate – Fostering an Environment of Learning and Leadership; Apply – Testing Key Concepts in Your Organization.

Who Is Right for the Program
This new program is designed for clinical care and nonclinical executives in healthcare delivery organizations. HBS encourages individuals from the same organization to attend.
