HBS Secure Wireless Networking
Many areas of the HBS campus are enabled for secure wireless internet access. The speed and performance of this network may vary with your distance from an access point and the number of wireless users nearby. Therefore, EETS recommends connecting to the network via cable whenever possible. Please note that most corporate VPN access over the HBS Wireless Network is unavailable. If you need corporate VPN access use the available wired option in your bedroom.
The wireless network is available in these areas:
- Spangler
- Aldrich
- Hawes
- Cumnock Classroom Areas
- Baker Library | Bloomberg Center
- Morgan Hall
|
- Rock Center
- Cotting 2nd Floor
- Shad lounge area
- All residence halls
- Most conference rooms
|
The wireless network is also available in many popular outdoor seating areas, such as the Spangler courtyard, Peterson Park and the lawn in front of Baker Library.
Automatically Configure Your Laptop for Secure Wireless:
- If you already have an HBS network connection (plugged-in Ethernet or through another wireless network):
- If you do not have an established connection follow these steps:
- On your device, select HBSGUEST, not HBSSECURE, from the list of available wireless networks.
- Open a Web browser. You will be directed to our guest portal.
NOTE: We recommend you use Internet Explorer, Firefox or Safari for the most seamless experience
- Identify yourself as a MEMBER of the HBS Community and click the Submit button. You will be redirected to the HBS XpressConnect Utility that will configure your computer for secure network access. Follow the on screen instructions to complete the set up.
NOTE: If you are using a Mac you may be prompted to enter your OS Administrator password to make changes during the setup (this is not necessarily the same as your HBS password).

- In the HBS email field, enter the information exactly as listed on the Wireless Instruction sheet found in your Registration packet (illustrated in the image below). If this information is not available to you, contact Executive Education Technology Services (EETS) at 495-8835 or email at eets@hbs.edu.
- In the Password field, enter your already-established HBS password used to access your program site.

- Click Continue
- The HBS XpressConnect Utility will configure, authenticate and connect you to the HBS Wireless Network for the duration of your time on campus
