How To Create CDs

Your bedroom PC has a CD-R drive that allows you to copy files directly to a CD. Blank CDs are available in your Program Office. Please note that we do not support the copying of JPEG, MPEG, MP3, and other multi-media files.

Important Note: In respect of authors' rights, copyright interests, and the confidentiality of certain information, participants cannot make course materials available to individuals or organizations without obtaining advance clearance from HBS. This applies to both printed and electronic course materials. Please note that reproducing copyrighted materials without express permission violates copyright law.

  • Go to Start > Programs > Media Tools > RecordNow!

  • Click Data Disc under Quick Start Links.

  • To add files, either drag them into the file list, or use the Add Files and Folders button to navigate to the files you wish to add. The amount of disc space that will be used by the files is shown in the upper right corner of the window. Most CD-Rs can hold 700 MB of files.

  • When you have finished adding files, click the Burn button to burn your CD. If you have added more files than will fit on the media, you will receive an error message telling you to delete files from the list.

  • At the end of the burning process, you will be given the option to save or make additional copies; if you do not wish to do either of these things, click Done.

By default, CDs are created as multi-session CDs: you can record multiple sessions to a single CD up to its capacity. For instance, if you were to burn 100MB of data to a CD, you could later use the same CD to record any amount of data up to the capacity of the CD.
