HBS Policies and Procedures> DISCRIMINATIONIn accordance with Harvard University policy, Harvard Business School is committed to providing an educational and work environment free from any form of discrimination. The School will not tolerate discrimination on the basis of race, color, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, religion, age, national or ethnic origin, political beliefs, veteran status, or disability. Discrimination is unlawful and inconsistent with the nature of an academic institution. One form of discrimination is sexual harassment. While the definition of sexual harassment will vary depending on circumstances, it can generally be defined as any unwanted sexual behavior, such as physical contact or verbal comments or suggestions, which adversely affect the working or learning environment of an individual or group. On occasion, there is a need to resolve grievances. For the protection of its students, employees, and faculty, the School has the resources to address suspected cases of discrimination, including sexual harassment. At the request of the individual, an informal investigation will be undertaken to ascertain the relevant facts. Often a remedy may be found through informal procedures. If an individual wishes to make a formal complaint, she or he need only submit a written complaint to a designated administrative officer. Upon receipt of the written complaint, a formal grievance procedure is followed and notice of the complaint is made available to the accused. For inquiries regarding the discrimination policies for Executive Education, please contact Nancy Dellarocco (+1-617-496-9753 or ndellarocco@hbs.edu). > DRUGS AND ALCOHOLIn compliance with the Federal Drug-Free Workplace Act and the Drug-Free Schools and Communities Reauthorization Act, Harvard University has adopted and implemented a policy designed to address concerns about substance abuse. In the case of any violation of laws relating to alcohol or controlled substances (e.g. marijuana, cocaine, heroin, etc.), the University may take disciplinary action against violators consistent with federal, state, and local laws. Action may include required participation in a substance abuse treatment, counseling or education program. Because of the considerable health risks involved in substance abuse, the University has significant programs offered by University Health Services to assist those who face these problems. Treatment and counseling options are available to program participants, even on an emergency basis, at University Health Services in Holyoke Center, located across the Charles River from the Harvard Business School campus. > HEALTH INSURANCEYou must be covered individually with comprehensive health insurance for major medical emergencies and/or hospitalization.
